Lending Policy
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Portsmouth may join the lending library. Special arrangements are available for people holidaying in the area.
Description of Collection/s
The Central Library holds the main lending and reference collections of books, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, CDs and cassettes (250,000 items)

Patents collection (member of Pin - Patents information network)

Music Library
8 Branch libraries have lending and quick reference collections (200,000 volumes)

OPAC (Online public assess catalogue)
Kurzweil machine for people with visual impairment, plus braille printer at the Central Library
CD-ROM Access
CD-ROM access is available at Central, North End and Cosham libraries
Internet Access
Public access internet is available in all libraries
Portable Computers
These are permitted and can be plugged into the mains
Photocopiers
Central Library - Two black and white copiers and one colour copier
Black and white copier available at each branch other than Portsea and Paulsgrove
All are coin operated
Reader/Printer Facilities
One reader/printer is available on the second floor of the Central Library
Microfilm readers are available in Local Studies
Microfiche readers are available in all libraries
Refreshments
A coffee bar is available in the third floor of the Central Library
